Welcome to the DLP Graphics Digital Art Gallery. Here you will find pictures from the Fort Nelson area, in the middle of the muskeg of northen British Columbia. Sometimes Fort Nelson doesn't seem to be the nicest place to live, especially when you just get back from "civilization" down south, so I took on the self assignment to find "beauty in the muskeg". Actually there is a lot of beauty here in the muskeg when you settle down and look around you. This is my attempt to bring this beauty to you.
It's been a long time coming but I finally have my new web site up and running - Hopefully without too many glitches. I'm sure it will need a lot of fine tuning so my apologies in advance for bad links and things that just don't quite look right in browser x.xx! The varying behaviour of different browsers has been quite frustrating throughout this process. I am attempting to make this work with web standards compliant browsers and it appears not all "standards compliant" browsers are created equal yet. My recomended browser is Mozilla Firefox. It is "Open Source" software, available as a free download. It's the one I use and did most of my designing and testing with. Intenet Explorer 7 is okay but some things don't look quite as nice. If you are still using Internet Explorer 6 please download and install Firefox. It is quite painless.
Check out Gallery Map for an overview of the whole site. Picture galleries are under "Browse Galleries" and are grouped and sorted according geographical area. When viewing individual photos in a gallery you can click on the right side of the photo to move to the next one or the left side to go back to the previous one. Under the picture is a drop down menu allowing you to choose from 4 different sizes to suit your monitor size and internet connection speed.
I do all my shooting with digital camera. Digital is rapidly changing the way we do photography. This is not just by giving us the ability to have an instant picture, but as we train our photographers’ mind to “think digitally” we realize we have a whole new set of tools Ansel Adams could only have dreamed about. A series of pictures in a row can be combined using the computer to produce a panorama. Multiple exposures can be taken at different settings and combined to extend the light range or focal range beyond what we can do with a single shot. And, to the horror of some, subjects from different images can be combined to appear as though they were present in one picture. I see my work as art, rather than photojournalism. To me it is "painting" with light. I am not afraid to use the tools that digital offers to express what I see and feel as I take a picture. As you browse my galleries you will find images that have “mutated” somewhat using Photoshop filters and it will be so stated in the “Photo detail info”, otherwise they are natural occurrences. There are also times when a single image does not quite capture the feeling of moment so I may do a composite of more than one and it will be stated as such. I also try to append the picture number of my mutated and composite images with an "e".
My pictures are available as framed prints. I have some on display for immediate purchase at UFA, Airport Way Medical Clinic, Western Financial Group (formerly Northland Insurance), and at home. You are welcome to stop in and view them. My Framed Prints in Stock page shows what I have in stock. Anything you see in this gallery can be printed and framed for you (see my Sizes and Prices page). I do my own printing and framing and keep a stock of materials so one can be made quickly.
Since I have the equipment for framing (see my equipment), I can custom frame your pictures as well. I have a small assortment of frame samples and lots of mat samples.
